AP produces maximum tobacco in India
Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, July 21 (UNI) The Tobacco Board today said that Andhra Pradesh produced maximum tobacco among the states in the country.
Tobacco Board sources said virginia tobacco crop in the state was fixed at 129 million kgG for 2006-2007. Karnataka with 87 million kg was the second largest tobacco producing state in the country, it added..
The export of tobacco from India was Rs 1362 crore in 2004-05, compared to Rs 263 crore in 1990-91. The tobacco farmers were paid an average price of Rs 46 per kg in 2005-06, the highest since 1991, the sources added.
