AIADMK will act as resposible opposition: Jaya
Chennai, July 21 (UNI) AIADMK general secretary and leader of the opposition J Jayalalithaa today said her party would act as a responsible opposition in the state assembly.
Briefing newspersons after chairing a meeting of party legislators here on the eve of Budget session, Ms Jayalalithaa refused to speculate on how the DMK's maiden budget for the year 2006-07 would be.
''Let us wait till the budget was presented in the house tomorrow,'' she said.
Asked whether there was a shift in her party's stand towards the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), Ms Jayalalithaa reiterated there was no change or shift in the party's stand with regard to the rebel tigers.
On AIADMK's allies like the Marumalarchi DMK (MDMK) and Dalit Panthers of India (DPI) offering support to the banned organisation, Ms Jayalalithaa, evaded the question saying, ''This is not a proper place to discuss it.'' She pleaded ignorance when asked about some dalits trying to get back their lands at Sirudavur, off the east coast, where she and her friend Sasikala Natarajan had built a farm house.
