70 people ill after consuming food at a marriage party

Krishnagar, Jul 21 (UNI) About 70 people fell ill after consuming food at a marriage party here.

All the 70 victims, who went to attend the marriage party of Nirodh Kumar Ray at Hihgnara Maheshchandrapur under Chakda Police Station, vomited soon after consuming the food there.

They were rushed to the nearby Chakda State General Hospital.

"It is a case of food poisoning and all of them have suspectedly consumed stale food," hospital sources said.

Nearly 35 of them are very critical and the rest were under treatment, the hospital officials added.

''We went to the marriage party and finished the food. We experienced severe pain in the stomach and had a dizzy feeling,'' said a victim.

Police had started investigation and held few family members of the groom for interrogation.
