Windies lanning tri-series against India, Sri Lanka before CWC

St John's, Antigua, July 20 (UNI) The West Indies are planning to host a tri-series involving India and Sri Lanka ahead of the World Cup to be held in March next year.

''We (management team) have sent in some proposals to the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) and whether or not they will be on the cards, I'm not sure, but the proposals are in and we are hoping they would work,'' Windies team manager Tony Howard was quoted by the Jamaica Observer as saying.

''There are a lot of things to be decided. The biggest proposal is for a tri-nation series with West Indies, India and Sri Lanka and hopefully that would give us some serious preparation for the World Cup,'' he added.

The series is being planned a month before the World Cup and the West Indies are hoping to make it a home affair after consulting the their Indian and Sri Lankan counterparts.

''We are hoping to have it played in the West Indies, but it is not settled yet. We are pitching for late January, about a month or so before the World Cup so that would be perfect preparation in the lead-up,'' Howard said.
