Top HM commander among 4 ultras killed, blast in Kashmir
Srinagar, July 20 (UNI) Four militants, including a top commander of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) were killed while a grenade blast took place in Jammu and Kashmir overnight, official sources said.
They said a blast took place near a petrol pump at Rainawari.
However, no damage was reported in the incident.
They also said army, police and CRPF launched a joint operation in a village at Pulwama in south Kashmir late last night following a tip off that some militants were hiding there.
However, when the troops were sealing the area, militants attacked them with automatic weapons and also hurled hand grenades.
Security forces also retaliated and in the fierce encounter two militants, including a self styled District Chief for Pulwama Nazir Ahmad Mir were killed. Two AK rifles and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants.
A defence ministry spokesman said two militants were killed in a fierce encounter in south Kashmir today. Further details are awaited.
