Three militants killed in south Kashmir, blast in Srinagar
Srinagar, July 20 (UNI) Security forces killed three militants in south Kashmir district of Pulwama last night, official sources said today.
A blast took place near a petrol pump at Rainawari. However, no damage was reported in the incident.
Some people were taken into custody for questioning, official sources said.
They also said army, police and CRPF launched a joint operation in a village at Pulwama in south Kashmir late last night following a tip off that some militants were hiding there.
However, when the troops were sealing the area, militants attacked them with automatic weapons and also hurled hand grenades.
Security forces also retaliated and in the fierce encounter two militants were killed. Two ak rifles and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants.
Sources said another militant was killed in a similar encounter at Shopian in the same district last night.
