Three brothers arrested for cheating farmers
Dharwad, July 20 (UNI) Police have arrested three brothers for allegedly duping farmers of Navalgund and adjoining taluks of Gadag district to the tune of Rs eight crore.
Superintendent of Police B Shrikanthappa told newspersons here today that the trio was arrested from Kolva beach in Goa by a special team formed for the purpose. Prakash, Vasant and Manjunath Anegundi, who owned flour mills, purchased foodgrains worth about Rs eight crore from the farmers of Navalgund, Nargund and Gadag taluks, promising early payment. However, the siblings and another two persons absconded from the place, closing their flour mills in the first week of this month.
Police have recovered three trucks, a car, a cruiser and 120 gm of gold ornaments from the arrested. Some of the relatives of the trio were also being questioned, he added.
