'Third Front not possible for the time being'
Patna, Jul 20: Lok Jan Shakti Party (LJP) President Ram Vilas Paswan and General Secretary of Communist Party of India(CPI) A B Bardhan today said political compulsions of regional parties were the major hurdle in the formation of a 'Third Front'.
Addressing a joint press conference here, Mr Paswan and Mr Bardhan made it clear that possibility of formation of a Third Front anead of Uttar Pradesh elections was 'slim' in the current political scenario.
''Most of the regional parties were associated with two main national parties, the Congress and the BJP, in different states due to their political compulsions. Besides JD(U), Biju Janta Dal(BJD) and AIADMK were alliance partners of BJP in Orissa and Tamil Nadu respectively while Nationalist Congress Party and DMK were having alliance with Congress,'' they added.
Evading a direct reply on the issue, Mr Bardhan said the formation of the Third Front seems impossible for the time being.
He said his party in alliance with RSP, Forward Block and CPI(M) was exposing the failures of the Nitish government in Bihar.
Both the leaders alleged that Mr Kumar, who promised to improve law and order situation and development of the state, has failed to keep his promises.
Mr Paswan said, ''Nitish Kumar is indulging in making fresh announcements instead of apprising the status of the fulfilment of the assurances he had made during the Assembly elections.'' He said the NDA government was ineffective and directionless even after the lapse of eight months and development remains to be a distant dream for the people.
