Tendulkar, Mongia return to Team India for Lanka tri-series
New Delhi, July 20 (UNI) Sachin Tendulkar and Dinesh Mongia made a comeback to Team India while RP Singh also got the nod as the selectors today named a 15-member squad sans Anil Kumble, Robin Uthappa and Y Venugopal Rao for next month's tri-series in Sri Lanka.
While a successful county stint earned Mongia the nod, Tendulkar returns after shoulder surgery.
Meanwhile, former captain Sourav Ganguly's poor show for Northamptonshire saw him left out of the squad. Zaheer Khan, despite his moderate success for Worcestershire, could not make it to the side either.
Despite rumours about his possible exclusion, off-colour Irfan Pathan found a place in the side.
Selector Sanjay Jagdale has been named manager of the team for the tournament, which also includes hosts Sri Lanka and South Africa, BCCI Secretary Niranjan Shah said today.
The Senior Selection Committee met at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai today to pick the side.
