TDP stages novel mass protest against price hike
Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, July 20 (UNI) The opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) today staged a novel protest against the skyrocketing prices of commodities at the collectorate here.
According to a release, many of the women who gathered there made a village model oven with stones and lit a fire with pieces of twigs and cooked green grass and served it.
The strange scene attracted a huge crowd. The women said due to spiralling prices the common man can eat only grass but not rice and vegetables.
An eight year old girl, Priyanka gave a graphic account of the plight of the common man. Her speech was punctuated with loud applause.
Former Union Minister and TDP leader Prof U Venkateswarlu alleged that Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy for giving a distorted picture of the price situation in Andhra Pradesh to the Congress President Sonia Gandhi while the price hike has made the life of common man miserable.
