Priests lay stone for road to Golden Temple in CM's presence
Amritsar, July 20 (UNI) In an unprecedented move, five Sikh priests today laid the foundation stone of the 5.35 km elevated road to the Golden Temple here on the request of Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh who was earlier scheduled to lay the stone of this project himself.
Led by Baba Darshan Singh, Head Gurdwara Bir Baba Budha Sahib, the priests laid the stone for the Rs 173 crore elevated project in the Chief Minister's presence after an 'ardas' was performed at Darbar Sahib for the compeltion of the project.
Later talking to newspersons, Capt Singh said he was indebted to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for sanctioning this project, besides sanctioning four-lanned Jalandhar-Amritsar national highway stretch.
