Premchand's short stories to be distributed in UP schools
Varanasi, July 20 (UNI) The government schools across Uttar Pradesh are set to get books containing 13 select short stories penned by legendary writer Munshi Premchand.
The books containing short stories alongwith illustrations have been published by UP Hindi Sansthan and are likely to be distributed in all UP schools before the 126th birth anniversary of the famed novelist on July 31, convenor of Munshi Premchand Smarak Shodh and Shikshan Nyas Sanjay Srivastava told newspersons here today.
''The main object is to apprise the younger generation with the world of the writer, whose portrayal of poverty stricken, brings tears to the eyes of readers,'' Dr Srivastava added.
Dr Srivastava further informed that the Hindi department of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has forwarded a multi-crore project proposal to the senter for the establishment of Munshi Premchand Research Institute for Social Sciences and Culture at the writer's native village, Lamhi.
UP has promised to provide required land for this purpose.
