Pranab asks MIDHANI to implement modernisation plans soon

New Delhi, July 20 (UNI) Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee today asked Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited (MIDHANI) to implement the ongoing modernisation plans at the earliest to meet the critical material requirements of the strategic sectors of Defence, Space and Atomic Energy.

Complimenting the company for its excellent performance in the past three years, Mr Mukherjee also asked it to continue the momentum of growth and good performance.

MIDHANI, a high-tech metallurgical company under the administrative control of the Department of Defence Production, produces super alloys, titanium and titanium alloys, special steels and soft magnetic alloys, besides molybdenum products.

The company made a turnaround in 2003-04 and has never looked back since. Its sales turnover and profits in the last three years increased by 67 per cent and 74 per cent, respectively.
