Police recover stolen diamond jewellery

Rajkot, July 20 (UNI) In a major breakthrough, crime branch police here today recovered the stolen diamond jewellery worth Rs two crore from Chanasva village in the district.

Crime Branch Police Inspector V V Gohel told UNI over phone that a police team led by Gohel himself raided the house of Rekha, sister of the accused Dilip Ahir and recovered the stolen jewellery. Dilip had hidden the bag containing the diamond jewellery in the compound of the house.

The actual value of the diamond jewellery was Rs two crore instead of Rs one crore as initially mentioned in the police complaint, Mr Gohel said. However, the accused is absconding.

Meanwhile, Rekha's husband Ashwinbhai was apprehended and brought to Rajkot for further questioning, Mr Gohel said.
