More rains in the next 48 hrs : Met department

Kolkata, Jul 20 (UNI) The Monsoon misery continued in Kolkata and its suburbs as rain continued to pour for the second day in succession causing problems to the people.

Although it did not rain heavily today, many areas remained water-logged.

There were few spells of showers and the sky was covered with dark clouds today.

The communication system was hit badly as there was knee to waist deep water in many parts of the city and its neighbourhood.

Members of Congress and the AITC demanded an explanation from the state government regarding the measures taken to prevent water-logging.

The weathermen said the downpours would be more severe in the next 48 hours and may continue throughout the week.

The only silver lining today was the temperature, which had fallen appreciably with maximum temperatuer at 28 degree Celsius and a minimum temperature of 25 degree Celsius.

However, the relative humidity was still on the higher side.
