Lignite production up in June

New Delhi, July 20 (UNI) Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC), an undertaking of the Coal Ministry, produced 18.69 lakh tonnes of lignite in June 2006 against its target of 18 lakh tonnes.

The gross power generation by the Miniratna company during last month was 1,425.68 million units, exceeding the target of 1,397 million units.

NLC produced 20.43 million tonnes lignite during 2005-06, a marginal decrease from 21.57 million tonnes in 2004-05. It is now implementing the expansion of its Mine-II and Thermal Power Station-II at a cost of Rs 4,192.06 crore.
