HC quashes cheating case against Prabhakar

Kochi, July 20: The Kerala High Court has quashed a cheating case against former Indian cricketer Manoj Prabhakar filed before the judicial first class magistrate court here.

M/s Amith Tea Agency had filed the complaint alleging that the Hyderabad-based ''Balaji Cosmetics'', in which Manoj Prabhakar is a director, had cheated it by collecting lakhs of rupees for giving it an agency of the company. But it never gave the agency.

Justice K P Balachandran yesterday observed that even if the complainant was cheated, neither Manaoj Prabhakar nor the company in which he is the director had any connection with the same.

Therefore, the criminal complaint against him was an abuse of the process of court.
