IUML comes down heavily on Centre
Kolkata, Jul 20 (UNI) The Indian Union Muslim League today rapped the Centre for its attempt to withdraw the judical status quo at the Babri masjid site by putting an iron rod and concrete cordon around the demolished site.
IUML's Bengal unit president Shahanshah Jehangir in a statement said he had written to Prime Minister Monmohan Singh and stated that the site in question had evoked controversy and inflicted severe damage on the secular credential of the country.
The recent move of the Central government to put an iron rod and concrete cordon around the controversial site was believed to be another attempt to appease Hindu fundamentalists, he alleged.
Mr Jehangir also urged the Prime Minister to look into the matter personally and dissuade the government from doing such things, which will further widen the gap between the communities and cause communl distrust and disharmony.
