HC directs Principal Secretary to file reply in VVIPs security issue

Mumbai, July 20 (UNI) The Bombay High Court today directed the Principal Secretary Home to file an affidavit regarding the policies for providing security to Very Very Important Persons (VVIP).

A division bench comprising Justice R M Lodha and N H Patil directed the Principal Secretary to file the affidavit by August 24 indicating the provisions for providing security to categorised persons, uncategorised persons, policy for collection of charges for security provided and the grounds on which exemption were granted.

The public interest litigation was filed by Advocate M P Vashi alleging that dues worth Rs 18 crore was outstanding for the protection provided to VVIPs and have to be recovered by the government.

The state submitted an affidavit today, that the names of persons who had to pay could not be disclosed for reasons of confidentiality. However, the court directed the state to submit details of the policy and indicate dues from the said categories.
