Haryana makes energy efficient design mandatory
Chandigarh, July 20 (UNI) Haryana has become the first state in the country to make energy efficient design features mandatory in all new government buildings.
The new regulations had been enforced with effect from June 30, Haryana Renewable Energy Department and Agency (HAREDA) director Sumita Misra said.
''The initiative taken by the state has been appreciated by the Centre and the Union Power Ministry and Ministry of Non-Conventional Energy Sources has asked other states to replicate this initiative,'' Mr Misra said.
She said for the first time a residential training for engineers or architects and planners of various government departments was organised by the Department at the Energy and Resources Institute during last month on energy efficient building designs.
As many as 15 architects and engineers of the Architecture Department, Housing Board, HSIIDC and Renewable Energy Department attended the training.
