Haryana disburses Rs 20 Cr under White Card Scheme
Chandigarh, July 20 (UNI) The Haryana Dairy Development Cooperative Federation has disbursed a sum of Rs 20 crore as loan among milk producers of the milk cooperative societies in Haryana under its White Card Scheme.
The fedration had implemented the scheme, under which a sum of Rs one lakh each was being given as loan to milk producers at a rate of eight per cent interest without any collateral security.
It has already arranged a loan of Rs 20 crore through banks under the scheme, as per the figures disclosed in a meeting presided over by state Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda to review the functioning of the Federation and the Cooperation Department.
The average milk production in the state is 4.02 lakh litre per day and efforts were on to increase it up to five lakh litre per day.
Mr Hooda said that expansion of Rohtak's Milk Plant was being made at a cost of Rs five crore. He also called for efforts to make Vita Milk more popular in other states on the pattern of Verka Milk of Punjab.
He directed the federation that efforts be made to enter the milk market of Delhi to increase the sale of milk.
For the sale of Vita Ghee and other items, he suggested that the market of Mumbai be exploited. He said for the first time, the Chandigarh Administration had allotted 14 booths to the Haryana Government for setting up of Vita booths in the city.
