Government prepares Rs 14,524 cr scheme for power distribution
Mumbai, July 20 (UNI) The state government has prepared a scheme worth Rs 14,524 crore to improve power distribution all over the state, Maharashtra Energy Minister Dilip Valse Patil informed today. Out of this, two schemes worth Rs 840.54 crore and Rs 502.84 crore were being prepared to improve the power distribution system in Navi Mumbai and Kalyan cities in Thane district.
Replying to a question by Sanjay Dutt (Congress) and others, Patil also informed that a private company from Bhiwandi was given the contract for improving the power distribution system, recovery and investment.
Speaking about power thefts in Bhiwandi, he said it could be controlled by making available the power connections. He said the government is planning to make power supply in this powerloom city with an investment of Rs 800 crore and has given the contract to Torrent, a Gujarat-based company which will improve the power supply system, recover the dues and invest in Bhiwandi.
