Four awarded 20-yr sentence for kidnapping child for ransom

Gurdaspur, July 20 (UNI) In a significant judgement, a local court today sentenced four persons for 20 years each after they were convicted in a case of kidnapping a child for ransom.

Each of the four convicts, Surinder Singh, Surinder Kumar, Jaspal Singh and Daman Kumar, all residents of Kalanaur in the district, were awarded sentence by Additional Sessions Judge S K Arora after they were produced in the court for the judgement.

They were arrested on February 25, 2004 for kidnapping a school going boy, Pincepal Singh and then demanding Rs 20 lakh from the child's parents. They had threatened to kill the child if they did not get the money.
