CPI(M) urges people to form citizen's resistance committee

Kolkata, Jul 20 (UNI) CPI(M) state secretary Biman Bose today urged the people to form citizen's resistance committee to protect the waterbodies in the state.

" The state needs more new waterbodies. We should not allow the filling up of any waterbody. We will ask the government to formulate a law regarding building complex on waterbodies, " Mr Bose told newspersons here.

The local people should form citizen's resistance committee to protest any further fill-up of waterbodies in the state, he said.

Commenting on the attacking of party member Bikas Ray at Salboni, Mr Bose accused the CPI(Maoists) of the attack.

He appealed the CPI(Maoists) to come to the mainstream and join politics. If the Nepal Maoists could join their government, why not the Maoists here, Mr Bose asked.

The Maoists should come forward and leave their arms and hold dialogue with the government, he added.

To a query on the abrogation of hand-pulled rickshaws in the city, he said the rickshaws will be withdrawn from the city after making an alternative arrangement for them.
