Court sentences one to 8-year RI for raping minor step-daughter

New Delhi, July 20 (UNI) A city court today sentenced one man to eight years' imprisonment for raping his minor step-daughter in Friends colony in South Delhi two years ago.

Patiala House Court Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) S P Garg, held Ram Bax, 42, guilty of raping his minor step-daughter and sentenced him to eight years' imprisonment.

The court further slapped a fine of Rs 1000 on Ram Bax also.

The victim, 16, deposed in the court that Ram Bax, her step-father, raped her from July 14, 2004 to September 6, 2004.

The mother of the victim, Asha Devi fully supported her and accompanied her throughout the hearing, according to the prosecution.

''The convict had betrayed the trust of the victim and deserves no leniency,'' Mr Garg said in his order.

Ram Bax was convicted under section 376 (Rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
