'Cops' loot Rs three lakh from bus passenger

Mysore, July 20 (UNI) A gang of six dacoits, posing as police, waylaid a bus on H D Kote road in the district today and robbed a passenger of Rs three lakh in cash.

Police said the driver of the Cannanore-bound bus stopped the vehicle between Jaypura and H D Kote on seeing the ''cops''. They boarded the bus and started looking for a person. The gang asked one Rafiq and Sumesh to alight from the bus for ''interrogation''. They took the duo in a waiting van to Thumbasoger near Sargur and asked Rafiq to part with the cash he was carrying. They then made good their escape with the cash.

Rafiq lodged a complaint with the Sargur Police station in this regard, stating that his friend had given the cash to him to be handed over to another person in Cannanore.
