Consultant to showcase WB as tourist destination
Kolkata, Jul 20: The West Bengal government is all set to hire a global consultant to showcase the state as a global tourist destination and bring in investments in the sector.
"We are on the lookout for global consultants to promote tourism and attract investment for the state. The department has already issued notices inviting applications from global consultants to this effect," state tourism minister Manabendra Mukherjee said.
"The sector has been neglected for long. Except for some luxury hotels coming up in and around Kolkata, nothing much has taken place. We will have to change the situation and for this we need massive private investment," Mukherjee said.
Accordingly, the state tourism department has recently issued a notice inviting 'Request for Proposal' containing technical and financial bid from reputed consultancy firms for providing services for preparation of a sector strategy and implementation plan.
The notice states that any consultancy firm having at least five years of operational experience with a minimum annual turnover of Rs 5 crore for the last three years and involved in preparation of sector strategy and theme papers including feasibility studies can participate in this process.
