Cong seeks UN intervention in Lebanese crisis
New Delhi, Jul 20: Expressing concern over the Israeli invasion of Lebanon, the Congress today sought urgent attention of the UN Security Council and the intervention of the international community to resolve the crisis.
"The Indian National Congress expresses its concern at the serious aggravation of the situation in Lebanon in the wake of the Israeli invasion, "AICC General Secretary Janardan Dwivedi said.
"The consequent destruction of infrastructure and the mounting humanitarian crisis warrants the urgent attention of the UN Security Council and the intervention of the international community, "Mr Dwivedi, who is also Chairperson of the AICC Media Department, said in a release here..
"We urge Israel and other parties to put in place urgent measures to end hostilities in the larger interest of the region and innocent people whobecome unfortunate victims in a conflict situation," he added.
