Chopper rescues five from flash flood in Tawi

Jammu, July 20 (UNI) Five of the eight people stranded in flash flood in the Tawi river here today were rescued by a IAF Chopper.

The eight people were stranded in flash flood due to heavy rains at the high reaches, while collecting sand and stones from the river in two tractor trollies.

The IAF on the request of local authorities pressed a Chopper into service which rescued five stranded persons while two others were rescued by the fire brigade. One of them saved his own life by swimming to shore.

The tractors trollies could not be pulled out of the river due to strong current of water.
