CBI files charge sheet against Diwakar; 9 others in CGHS case

New Delhi, July 20 (UNI) The CBI today filed fresh charge sheet against the prime accused Narayan Diwakar and nine others in connection with the Rs 4000 crore Co-operative Group Housing Scheme (CGHS) scam.

Appearing before the Patiala House Court, special judge S K Kaushik, the CBI charge sheeted Diwakar, D N Sharma, U S Bhatnagar, Niranjan Singh, Ashwani Sharma, Vinod Kumar, Kuldeep Goyal, Naveen Kaushik and Satya Gupta.

The charge sheet has been filed in connection with UNI employees CGHS under Regular Case (RC) 7 (E).

Narayan Diwakar, the retired registrar of Co-operative Society (RCS) allegedly revived the society in connivance with some public servants. The forged affidavits were prepared by Gokul Chand Aggarwal, with Ashwani Sharma and Naveen Kaushik. Based on the forged and fabricated records, Gokul Chand Aggarwal revived the UNI employees CGHS in the office of RCS, New Delhi.

There are sixty six cases pending against Diwakar out of a total of ninety five cases. Diwakar is the prime accused behind the entire scam, according to a senior CBI official.

All the accused allegedly conspired with RCS officials to recommend these fake societies to DDA for allotment of land.

There were a total of 135 fake societies that the CBI suspects, the charge sheet said.
