BJP women activists urged to take independent decisions
Anand, July 20 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state unit general secretary Jayantibhai Barot today urged women party activists to take independent decisions pertaining to politics and not be influenced by male members of their families in this regard.
He was addressing the valedictory function of the Gujarat BJP Mahila Morcha at Dakor.
He said he had received several complaints that women party office-bearers are unduly influenced by male members of their families while taking decision on party matters.
He urged them to be ready to face Lok Sabha elections any time now since ''the unpopular UPA Government might declare a mid-term poll''.
Gujarat Education Minister Anandiben Patel, speaking on the ocasion, urged the women activists to ensure success for the Gujarat Government's ''Save Girl Child'' campaign.
She asked the party workers to play a greater role in the Central scheme of popularising micro finance through Self-Help Groups (SHGs). The number of SHGs in the state is proposed to be increased from 35,000 at present to 100,000 by the next year.
