BJP to participate in working groups on J

Jammu, July 20 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir unit of the BJP has decided to nominate its members to the Working Groups, to be set up to evolve solution to issues related to the state, in conformation with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's announcement made after the second Round Table conference in Srinagar.

''The party is now satisfied with the term of references of the groups which include the issue of terrorism, safe return and rehabilitation of migrated Kashmiri Pandits and redressal of issues related to regional imbalance, for that party was harping upon and waging agitation,'' party's state vice-president and spokesman Hari Om told mediapersons here yesterday.

He said party's state president Nirmal Singh has decided to nominate its members in working groups following discussions between Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and BJP national general secretary Arun Jaitley recently over the issues raised by Mr Jaitley in his letter to the Chief Minister dated July 1, 2006.

Mr. Hari Om said that as per the communique sent to the state government party has asked the Chief Minister to put former Union Minister Chaman Lal Gupta on working group number one related to Confidence Building Measures across segments of society in the state.

The state party Geneal Secretary Ashok Khajuria on group number two related to strengthening relation across Line of control and state party president Nirmal Singh on group three.

The BJP leader said he would represent the party in the fourth group for ensuring good governance whereas Mr Jaitley will work on the fifth group related to strengthening relation between the state and the centre.
