AP reservoirs receive heavy inflows
Hyderabad, July 20 (UNI) Reservoirs across river Krishna in Andhra Pradesh continued to receive heavy inflows from the neighbouring states, raising hopes of a good khariff paddy crop in the Krishna Delta region.
Official sources here said, with southwest monsoon active in the catchment areas of the perennial rivers in Maharashtra, Karnataka stepped up releases from Almatti and Naryanpur to 48,907 cusecs and 50,283 cusecs of water respectively.
Maintaing the water level in Jurala, the entry point of the river in Andhra Pradesh, at 1036.63 ft the authorities released 42,840 cusecs downstream.
The level in Srisailam, which had an inflow of 45,464 cusecs, was maintained at 857 ft, by releasing 58,624 cusecs after power generation. The level in Nagarjunasagar went up to 558.50 ft following an inflow of 48,089 cusecs. The authorities stepped up releases to 16200 cusecs from the Nagarjunasagar for irrigation in the Krishna Delta region.
