All India consumer Price Index higher by 5 pts
Shimla, Jul 20: As compared to the month of May, 2006, the All India Consumer Price Index numbers for agricultural labourers and rural labourers (base 1986-87-100) for June, 2006 increased by five points each to stand at 370 points for agricultural labouers and 372 points for rural labourers, according to Labour Bureau here today.
The rise in indices varied from state to state. In the case of agriculture labourers, indices in respect of all the 20 states reflected an increase ranging between two to ten points. Meghalaya , Punjab with 395 points topped the index Table whereas Manipur was at the bottom with 333 points.
In the case of rural labouers, in all the 20 states, indices reflected an increase ranging between two to nine points Punjab was at the top of the index table with 398 points whereas Manipur was at the bottom with 334 points .
Tripura experienced a sharpest increase of ten to nine points in respect of agriculture labouers, and rural labouers respectively mainly due to increase in the price of rice, masur dal, goat meat, poultry, fresh fish, salt, onion. chillies green, chillies dry, vegetables and fruits, bidi and shirting cloth. however, no state index showed downward trend during June, 2006.
Point to point rate of inflation based on the CPI-RLincreased from 6.41 per cent and 6.38 per cent during May, 2006 to 7.25 per cent respectively during June,2006, respective rates of inflation during June, 2005 were 2.68 per cent and 2.66 per cent.
