9 killed, 16 injured in road accident

Moradabad, July 20: At least nine people were killed and 16 others injured in a collision between an oil-tanker and a tractor trolley in Rajabpur area of Jyotiba Phule Nagar district in Uttar Pradesh today.

Police said the mishap occurred around 0400 hrs near the Atrasi turn, when the victims -- hailing from Devipura village -- were returning after cremating a body.

The deceased were identified as Saryu Pal (35), Kallu (69), Charan (47), Sauran (30), Vimal (45), Jaipal (25), Sonepal (22) and Ramchandra (52) and Khachedu.

The injured had been admitted to district hospital, Gajraula, where the majority of them were stated critical.
