2 medical aspirants arrested for forgery

Varanasi, July 20 (UNI) Akin to Bollywood hit 'MunnaBhai MBBS', two youths -- who managed selection for admission to BAMS course of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) after arranging someone to appear in the admission test on their behalf -- have been arrested and a case of forgery lodged against them.

Police said today Sanjiv Kumar Yadav hailing from neighbouring Chandauli district and Sanjay Kumar from Allahabad were handed over by the Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS-BHU) officials to varsity proctorial board during BAMS counselling yesterday, after their signature did not match those on admission test card.

On interrogation, the duo admitted to being selected to BAMS course without appearing in the admission test for the Ayurvedic degree course held in May 18.

They had paid Rs four lakh to two other people, including a BHU MBBS student, who appeared in admission test on their behalf.

While Sanjiv claimed he had paid Rs 2.5 lakh to a third year MBBS student from BHU on July 18, Sanjay paid Rs 1.5 lakh to a youth from Lucknow for the purpose, police added.

They were handed over to police by the BHU proctorial board last night and were sent to jail this morning.

Meanwhile, search was on at various BHU hostels to nab the MBBS student, who allegedly appeared for Sanjiv in the admission test.

Two yrs ago four youth were nabbed at BHU during counselling for admission to MBBS course in connection with a similar act.
