Two more arrested in human sacrifice case
Hubli, July 19 (UNI) Police have arrested two people, including the main accused, in the case relating to the human sacrifice of a seven-year-old boy with the hope of finding treasure, at Navalur, a suburb of the twin cities of Hubli-Dharwad.
While the uncle of the sacrificed boy, called nikhil,Doddappa Badiger and a woman Girijawwa Ganachari were arrested earlier, the main accused Basappa Bhairappanavar (35) and another accomplice were nabbed yesterday.
Commissioner of Police Narayan Nadamani today said that the police were considering brain mapping tests on the accused. The objects used to sacrifice Nikhil have been recovered.
The boy was considered lucky by his father Fakirappa Badiger as he had six fingers in a hand and the latter had a blind faith that Nikhil would lead to treasure one day. This superstitious belief resulted in his sacrifice.
Nikhil was kidnapped by Doddappa Badiger and two others on July five with the help of Girijawwa Ganachari, who called the boy to her house and alerted the key accused. Doddappa Badiger and Bhairppanavar sacrificed the boy and threw the body on railway tracks near the suburb on July eight.
