Two killed, 5 wounded by 'Kacchha Baniyan' gang

Varanasi, July 19 (UNI) The notorious 'Kacchha Baniyan' gang struck Rohania area here early today, killing two people and wounding five others, including four of a family.

The criminals numbering six also robbed cash and valuables worth over Rs one lakh in Jogapur village.

According to police, the criminals first entered the house of Sanjay Pandey and after beating him to death decamped with cash and jewellery worth several thousand of rupees.

They also killed Kashinath (55), when he tried to raise an alarm, police added.

The criminals later stormed the house of Suresh Vishwakarma and after severly wounding his wife Gita Devi (46), two daughters Kavita (16) and Babita (13) and son Mukesh (18), decamped with cash and valuables.

On their way out of Jogapur, the robbers wounded Kailash (40) severely and took away his cycle.

Later, senior police officials reached the site and launched a massive search opepration to nab the culprits.

Meanwhile, the wounded had been admitted to the BHU hospital, where condition of all of them was stated to be critical.
