Tokyo stocks open higher after Wall Street rises
TOKYO, July 19 (Reuters) The Nikkei average rose 0.71 percent on Wednesday as exporters such as Komatsu Ltd. gained after a drop in crude oil prices helped U.S. stocks and restored some investor confidence in the U.S. economy, a key market for Japanese products.
The Nikkei was up 101.80 points at 14,539.04 as of 0005 GMT after losing more 7 percent over the previous five sessions. The TOPIX index was up 0.64 percent at 1,484.76.
