Sensex slides after opening strong, down at 10,145.84 pts
Mumbai, July 19 (UNI) Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) sensitive index (Sensex) today slid after a strong opening on the global cues.
The Sensex opened in the green at 10,320.59 as compared to the previous close of 10,226.78, as global crude oil prices declined to US 73 dollar per barrel yesterday.
The Sensex soon pared gains and declined in the red, as the ongoing Israel-Lebanon crisis failed to boost the investors confidence.
Currently, the Sensex is trading at 10,145.84 points.
Major indices on the BSE are in red led by IT, which is down 1.72 per cent, Metals are down 1.24 per cent and Midcap and Smallcap down by 1.23 per cent respectively.
Top gainers on the index are Grasim, L&T, HDFC, ICICI, ONGC, Dr Reddy's and Bhati, all up between 0.03 and 1.83 per cent.
Losers on the index are Wipro, Satyam computers, Tata Motors, TCS, Hindalco, NTPC, and Reliance Industries, all down between 1.07 and 5.00 per cent.
