Selja Assures Liberal funding to J and K

Srinagar, July 19 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Housing, urban Employment and poverty Alleviation Kumari Selja said Jammu and Kashmir will witness a sea change after the new Central funding pattern of 90 per cent assistance and 10 per cent loan.

She said it was due to the efforts of Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad that the funding pattern has been enhanced to Jammu and Kashmir. She said earlier it was in the ratio of 50:50 as a result of which the state was not able to earmark adequate funds to fully utilize the Central funds.

The Minister said before the commencement of the 11th Five Year Plan, some changes in terms of provision of subsidy and other parameters will be further modified wherever required to benefit the needy.

She said viable micro-credit availability to urban poor is being ensured and a task force has been constituted for the purpose.
