Ruling SP MLA issued notice in cop's murder case
Allahabad, July 19 (UNI) Allahabad High Court today issued a notice to ruling Samajwadi Party MLA from Gyanpur constituency Vijay Mishra on a writ petition demanding a CBI probe in the murder case of a police constable, Suryamani Mishra.
In 2003, Mishra was murdered in broad daylight at Civil Lines, Allahabad.
A bench comprising Justices Imtiaz Murtaza and Amar Saran passed this order on a writ filed by S N Mishra, the deceased constable's brother. The court will now hear the case on August 7.
As per the writ, the SP leader -- named in the FIR relating to the crime -- had about 47 criminal cases pending against him.
The petitioner alleged the ruling party MLA had manipulated the probe and got the probe transferred from local police to CB-CID and again to S R Mishra of Lucknow range.
After investigating the case, S R Mishra submitted final report in the matter, the petition added.
Meanwhile, the court has also asked the Uttar Pradesh government to file a reply in this case.
