Razi urges people to save ecology

Ranchi, Jul 19 (UNI) Jharkhand Governor Syed Sibtey Razi today urged people to change attitude to maintain environmental balance in atmosphere.

Inaugurating an international workshop on 'Advisory Services in Environmental Management', Mr Razi said people should bring changes in their attitude in order to save environment.

He said pollution level was high in developed countries adding rapid increase in vehicles affeted the environmrnt most.

Stressing the need for saving water, he said bio-diesel emerged as an alternative to petrol and diesel but there was no substitute for water.

Only three per cent of the available water in world was potable.

Mr Razi said people in Shimla and Nainital were facing problems due to heavy use of polythene bags as those bags could not be disposed leading to hazards in ecological balance.

Speaking over management of waste materials, the Governor said with the disposal of daily waste materials, computer and mobile waste should also be disposed properly.

Mr Sanjay Kumar, Director of Central Forest and Environment Ministry, said the state government should take adequate measures to dispose industrial waste as presently there was no arrangement for it.

In this context, Mr Kumar referred to guidelines of Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board adding that should be implemented.

Dr J Bischoff, an environmentalist from Germany said people should be trained in waste management for technical education help tackle the issue more professionally and systematically.

State Forest and Envioronment Secretary N N Pandey felt that there should be more and more discussion all over to make people understand the importance of ecological balance.
