President to visit Leh on July 28
Srinagar, July 19: President A P J Abdul Kalam will visit Leh in Ladakh region on July 28, official sources said.
The President is scheduled to attend a function and also address the audience in the Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre and Degree College, Leh.
A high level meeting called by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Basharat Ahmad Dar reviewed the arrangements being made in connection with the Presidents visit.
Mr Basharat Ahmad was accompanied by IGP (Kashmir) S M Sahai and IGP (Security) I K Gupta.
Mr Dar reviewed the security arrangements in the meeting which was attended among others by the senior officers of the Air Force, Army, ITBP, and ITBF situated at Leh.
He emphasized upon officers to complete the ongoing and proposed minor works like repair of roads, cleanliness of surroundings at a faster pace.
Later Mr Dar had a meeting with district officers and reviewed the pace of developmental works being carried out in the district.
Mr Basharat stressed on the need for implementation of the Model Village infrastructure and bringing of more land under cultivation under Command Area programmes.
He also emphasized on giving more attention to apricot production and sea buckthorn industry, which ultimately may improve the economic conditions of the rural population.
