PM to inaugurate Ground Water Council meeting
New Delhi, July 19 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will inaugurate a meeting of the Advisory Council on "Artificial Recharge of Ground Water" on July 22 at a time when the country was feeling the heat of over exploitation of water resources resulting in drastic depletion of levels of ground water.
The Advisory Council headed by Water Resources Minister Saifuddin Soz will discuss a host of issues surrounding the ground water use and ramifications of over-exploitation of ground water not just on the socio-economic conditions in the country but on the national ecology.
The Council aims to emerge as a forum for multi-stake holders for deliberation of issues and to facilitate efficient ground water management on an environmentally sustainable basis.
