'PDS badly affected due to reduction in foodgran allocation'
Bhopal, July 19 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Government today informed the legislative assembly that public distribution system (PDS) had been badly affected due to reduction in foodgrain allocation by the Centre.
As the matter was raised by Mr Brajendra Tiwari during question hour, Cooperative Minister Gopal Bhargava said the Centre had reduced foodgrain allocation for above poverty line (APL) category.
Mr Bhargava said no foodgrain was provided this month.
Mr Tiwari said people were facing trouble, as no foograin was available at ration shops in rural areas.
Taking serious note of the matter, Speaker Ishwardas Rohani said efforts would be made to ensure availability of foodgrains to people.
Meanwhile, official sources said the government had written to Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar in this regard.
