Passenger associations discuss safety measures with GM
Mumbai, July 19 (UNI) Millions of eyes, ears and brains of commuters are better than mechanical gadgets and no mechnical security system is foolproof, according to Western Railway General Manager Rajkamal Rao.
Various passenger associations from the city held a meeting with the General Manager today to discuss the issue of safe travel.
Mr Rao said the railway commuters know one another and are the largest and effective source of internal security. He asked the associations to organise passengers and harness this large human resource for security.
In the meeting various passenger associations gave suggestions which included the formation of Railway Volunteers Committee, and educate commuters on the need to carry less luggage and keep it with them.
