One militant killed by security forces in Kashmir

Srinagar, July 19 (UNI) A militant was killed by security forces in a joint operation in south Kashmir district of Pulwama, a defence ministry spokesman today said.

According to him, troops of 9 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), 162 batallion of Territorial Army (TA) and 161 batallion Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a joint operation at Braripora in Pulwama early this morning following a tip off that militants were hiding there.

However, when the troops were sealing the area, militants fired upon them. In the ensuing clash one militant was killed and a security jawan was injured. One AK rifle and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militant, the spokesman added.
