Notices issued to K'taka Govt, EC, MP

Bangalore, July 19 (UNI) The Karnataka High Court today issued notices to the State Government, Election Commission and Lok Sabha member Iqbal Ahamed Sardi on a writ petition, seeking a direction to the Returning Officer of Gulbarga to file a complaint against the MP for filing false declaration of assets while filing his nomination for Gulbarga-II seat for the 2004 general elections.

Mr Justice N Kumar ordered issuance of notices on a petition filed by former Minister S K Kanta.

The petitioner contended that Mr Sardi had filed a false declaration of assets while filing his papers for the Lok Sabha elections and despite a complaint from him, the Returning Officer had not lodged a complaint before the jurisdictional Magistrate.
