Nine killed in road mishaps in K'taka

Bangalore, July 19 (UNI) Nine people, including two women, were killed and five injured in two road mishaps in Karnataka today.

Police said four people were killed and three injured when their car collided with a tractor at Kenchatihalli on the outskirts of Hassan town. The car was proceeding from Hassan to Bangalore when the mishap occurred. The victims were all residents of Bangalore.

While three of them died on the spot, one succumbed to his injuries at the district hospital.

The injured were admitted to the hospital, where the condition of two of them was stated to be serious, police added.

In the other mishap, five people were killed and two injured when the auto in which they were travelling collided with a lorry at Rastapur Cross on State highway nine, near Gulbarga.

Police said the deceased were identified as Tura Ram (45), Basamma (65), Lingamma (50), Gangadhar (35) and Saheb Gouda (20).

The injured were admitted to the Government Hospital.

The lorry driver is at large.
